The Lord has been gracious in providing a campus at R.V. Nagar, Kodungaiyur on the outskirts of Chennai. This campus stands on 21 grounds (1 acre) and has facilities such as lecture rooms, a spacious chapel, administrative office, a well stocked library and residential accommodation for 45 students. The campus also has enough open space for recreational activities of the students. R.V. Nagar is situated about 10 KMs away from the the Chennai Central Railway station. The campus is well connected by road and has all facilities such as water supply, sanitation etc. In the neighbourhood we have medical, post, telephone and internet facilities.
There has been a distinct quality in the support of this ministry. Initially as long as the institution functioned as ABTI, the expenses were met by GFTI. But after its inception with a separate entity as SBC, it follows the principle of looking to the Lord for the support of the ministry. SBC provides boarding, lodging, tuition and study materials free of cost on the principle - “you have freely received, freely give,”. However, it is open for the students or their recommending assemblies to make free-will contributions to the ministry. The approximate maintenance expense per student on an average works out to Rs.5000/- p.m. The general principle is not to discourage anyone on account of monetary constraints, if he is otherwise suitable.
SBC has over the years built up a good collection of books and now has a total of about 10000 books. Though in terms of number, it is not very extensive, it has on its shelves all the essential tools for study and reference in all aspects of theology and related Biblical studies. The students are given library hours on weekdays to have access to major reference books. They are given specific topics and are encouraged to prepare assignment by making best use of the library.
Facilities for physical exercise and games are also available in the campus. The students are encouraged to make use of these extracurricular activities. These are meant to help them to develop an all around personality. In addition, the students are taken to other places for a week as part of the curriculum to have field training.
Students who are in sound health will only be admitted. They should attach to their application a certificate to this effect, from an approved medical practitioner.
The students have the opportunity of fellowship and worship on Sundays with the local assembly-Bethesda Bible Chapel, Kilpauk; and attendance there is compulsory. Strict discipline will be observed in the campus . All are expected to conduct themselves as worthy servants of the Lord. Students are encouraged to develop a healthy inter-personal relationship based on Mathew 18:15- 17. Any student who in the evaluation of the management fails to measure up to the standard of conduct, will be asked to leave the college. Punctuality in class, devotional sessions and other activities is essential.
Selected candidates should travel at their own expense. They should bring along with them all personal requirements including bedsheets, pillow covers and mosquito net. SBC will provide only cots and mattresses. They should have their Bibles- New King James Version in English and one in their own language. A Dictionary (English-English- vernacular) is a must. All incidental expenses in connection with their personal requirements have to be met by the students themselves. Recommending assemblies should be exercised of this need and should support the students to the extent possible in meeting their sundry expenses.
From Chennai Central to the campus an autorickshaw would charge about Rs.250/-. City buses are also available from opposite side of the Central station. Bus Nos. 64 series (B,C,D) and 7G, to Moolakkadai and from there the campus is just two KMs away which can be reached by an auto or bus. From Egmore Railway station Bus No.29D can be boarded to get down at Moolakkadai.
